The sun shone, we lit fires, hot soup fortified us and we had an excellent pruning lesson with Hans & Christa. Are we lucky or what? Above are Ali and Christa cogitating the best route with a less than perfect vine.

When our lesson was over and the profs had departed we stuck around a while and fulfilled our role as Hans' chief tasters. Here are pruners extraordinaire, Ali, Alex and Debbi. Just another 10,960 vines and 25 olives (we found more) to go. Shouldn't take beyond 2010.

Dear Lizzie and Ali.
I feel I already know you! I read your blogs with joy - it so sums up how I feel about Roujan! What a wonderful adventure you are having (lots of hard work too I can imagine) especially now that you have purchased your 'land'.
I have (briefly) met you (well you were surrounded by your dogs!) I am friends with Marie (from Heraudio) and Eric and Vincent (who used to live above the supermarket ?).
I run a sort-of B&B (not as grand as yours) in a 300 year old house in Kent...although my guests stay longer than yours (about a year), they are 16 year old dance students so keep me busy!
I was hoping to avail myself of your hospitality early in the new year but am dismayed to find you are only open from 1st May !
I am at Uni studying medicine and the thought of a long weekend sampling your breads and breakfasts has kept me going throughout a gruelling lst term!
Clearly my dates wont match with yours (as regards half terms) but perhaps I could place 'an order' or at least a 'wish list' of available weekends you might be able to squeeze us in?
I did try to call....but now I know you are so tied up with farming, its little wonder you are around! Unfortunately (for me) your venue is SO popular, it may already be pre-booked for 2008? Never mind I shall keep trying...
Cheers and I hope to get in touch with you soon..
Kind regards
Linda Robson
